About the National Essay Scholarship Contest:

The National Essay Scholarship Contest has 3 Rounds. For each round a contestant makes it through they will be required to submit a new essay in the next round. The level of difficulty in both writing and scoring will slightly increase in each round. Read on to see how each round is broken down.

 

Round 1:
In the 1st round judges will choose the top 50 essays in each of the following categories.​ The winners of the 1st round will then go on to the 2nd Round. Winners will be announced on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10 a.m. online at the National Essay Scholarship Ceremony. Each contestant and their family will receive an invitation to join in on the fun. 

Round 2:

In the 2nd Round the semi-finalist will be given a new set of essay prompts. Semi-finalist will submit a new essay and judges will choose the top 25 essays.  Winners will be announced on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10 a.m. online at the National Essay Scholarship Ceremony. Each contestant and their family will receive an invitation to join in on the fun. 
 

Round 3:

In the 3rd and final round the remaining contestants are considered finalist. Finalist will submit a new essay and judges will choose a winner from the top 25 essays. Winners will be announced on Saturday, November 13th, 2021 at 10 a.m. online at the National Essay Scholarship Finalist Ceremony. Each contestant and their family will receive an invitation to join in on the fun. Winners will be featured in a national press release recognizing their excellence.​

 

Essay Prompts & Word Count


Each student will submit a 500 word essay using one of the 4 essay prompts listed below.
(note: Punctuation and grammar are just as important as your message so please have someone proofread your essay before submitting it.). 
 

Prompt 1:     
You have just been accepted to the college of your dreams and you will be enrolling as a
freshman in September. The College Admissions Advisor was soo impressed with your application and how you presented yourself during the interview that she wrote you a personal acceptance letter. What does it say? What does she mention that was on your college application that impressed her the most? And, how much was your award package? 

 

Prompt 2:

If you could travel into the future, what's one activity that you would like to do while in college that would have a profound affect on the rest of your life? Why is it a game changer?
And, How will it benefit you in life?

Prompt 3:

Tomorrow is your first day of college. Describe your first day on campus? What are you confident about? What do you fear the most? And, How does your first day end? 

Prompt 4: 

You found a magic wand which has transformed you into the smartest kid in the world; but only in one subject (ex.a foreign language, math, architecture, sport, etc...) What subject would you choose?  Why? And, how would you use your genius to change the world?

Contest Entry Fee & Deadlines:

Contest Entry Fee is per registrant. Contestants must be in grade school (3rd - 5th) , middle school (6th - 8th), or high school (9th-10th).:

Contest Rules and Regulations:

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

 

1) Eligibility:

 The Oink Group 2021 National Essay Contest (the "Contest") is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are full-time students including home schoolers in the 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9-10th grade.  Employees of Oink Group Inc and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

 

2) Sponsor:

The contest is sponsored by the Oink Group Inc, located at 150 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 2800, Chicago, Illinois 60601.

 

3. Agreement to Official Rules:

Participation in the contest constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official rules and the decisions of the sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these official rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.

4. Contest Period:

The contest begins on March 15, 2021 and ends on November 15th, 2021  (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the contest period will be disqualified. Submissions will be accepted for the duration of the contest using any of the following methods:

5. How to Enter Online:

This method of entry will be available by visiting our website (www.oinkgroup.com/nationalessaycontest) and following the directions provided to fill out the entry information, and submit. Limit one (1) entry per person, per email address, and per household for the duration of the contest period, regardless of method of entry. Entries received from any person, e-mail address, or household in excess of the stated limitation will be void.  

 

6. Prize Winners:

On or about November 15th, 2021, the Sponsor will select potential winners using a panel of judges. The judges will select finalist after reveiewing all said essays. There will be 3 grand prizes given to 3 winners. 1 winner in each category. In addition there will be prizes to semi-finalist and runner-ups.The sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winners/ finalists via telephone or email on or about November 15th, 2021. If the potential winners/finalists cannot be contacted within fifteen (15) days after the date of the first attempt to contact him/her, the sponsor may select an alternate potential winner in his/her place at random from both the remaining runner-ups and non-winning, eligible entries.

 

7. Winner Notification:

The potential winners will be notified by email, mail, or phone. Each potential grand prize winner (parent/legal guardian if a minor in his/her state of residence) will be required to complete, electronically sign and submit a Declaration of Compliance within fifteen (15) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim his/her prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, or fails to submit the Declaration of Compliance within the required time period (if applicable), or prize is returned as undeliverable, potential winner forfeits prize. If the potential winner is considered a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize in the name of his/her parent or legal guardian, who will be required to sign the Declaration of Compliance on the potential winners behalf and fulfill any other requirements imposed on winner set forth herein. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. Only three (3) alternate drawings will be held, after which the prize will remain un-awarded. Prizes will be fulfilled approximately 8-10 weeks after the conclusion of the Contest.

 

8. Grand Prizes: 

  • Finalist can receive college scholarship valued up to $10,000, Paid-up scholarship subscription to the College Prep 4Parents Program, $125 Pizza Party, and will be featured in a press release. Total package is approximately valued up to $25,000 for each contestant. 

 

8.5  Scholarships:

College Scholarship Awards: Initially college scholarships will be awarded to contestants in the form of a certificate.
To redeem scholarship contestant must meet the following conditions. Must be a high school graduate, must be enrolled and attending a 4 year under-graduate college or university in U.S.A., Must be an American Citizen, Maintain the minimum and meet the Satisfactory Academic Standards set by the college, scholarship will be paid out over 4 years or less depending on if graduation date is less than 4 years, Each year in august awardee will be asked to renew scholarship based on requirements, scholarship funds will be distributed or credited by colleges' financial department to student depending on standing with college and only if student is actively enrolled. Student will have up to 2 years to redeem scholarship after graduating high school. Each year student is not enrolled a 1/4 of scholarship value is decreased., beginning in junior year to the senior year of high school awardee must enroll in the "The Ultimate College Experience", a College Prep 4Parents Program which will assist with financial aid forms, career information, college profiles, financial aid, endowment scholarships, loans, grants and all other items listed in "Your Services" as seen inside the College Prep 4Parents Agreement free of charge as a part of the scholarship award.   A minimum of ten (10) schools is required for best results and suggested financial strategies should be followed for a successful outcome. 

9. General Conditions:

In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired. If in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problem, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or (b) terminate the Contest and, in the event of termination, award the prize at random from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorney's fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure by the Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

10. Release and Limitations of Liability:  Publish essay's, photo of contestants, and quotes.
By participating in the Contest; entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising, and promotion agencies, other companies associated with the Contest, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, and agents (the Released Parties) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the Contest, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) application downloads, (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the winner, the cancellation or postponement of the event and/or the flyover, if applicable, the incorrect downloading of the application, the processing of entries application downloads or in any Contest-related materials; or (f) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto). Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Contest, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorney's fees. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this document of the Contest.
